Characteristics
Morel (Morchella esculenta Fr.) is an edible mushroom from the Morchellaceae family. The cap is yellowish to light brown, ovoid, with a blunt tip, covered with irregular hollows that are like honeycombs, hollow inside, 4-8 cm high. The stalk is whitish, later yellowish, lighter than the cap, thickened in the lower part, hollow, 4-6 cm high, 2-3 cm thick. The meat is white, fragile, thin, with a pleasant smell and taste. The spores are elliptical, smooth, the otrusine is creamy white.
Habitat fungi
It grows on grasslands, along wet areas, along rivers, in light forests and in forest clearings.
Usage
It is an edible mushroom, of excellent quality. It should not be eaten raw, but well thermally processed because otherwise it causes more severe digestive problems.
